Surprise Visitor Day 2

We had another surprise visitor today. We had 4 firefighters from Corvallis Fire and Reacue come and share some great information with us! We learned that even though they may look scary in all their gear, fire fighters are not scary.

Getting in all of the gear! There are so many pieces. See if your kindergartener remembers all of them.

We learned that we need to crawl low in a fire because it is cooler and there is less smoke. We also need to yell "I'm over here" if a fire fighter is looking for us in a fire.

We got to see and feel some of the other tools!

Finally we got to see all of the things that stay on the fire truck.

He got on top of the truck to show us another hose!

The jaws of life!

Does your child remember what is inside of the truck?

Surprise visitor!

We had 2 amazing special visitors this afternoon! Mr. And Mrs. Scott (aka Hannah's parents) came to visit...and they are volunteer firefighters from Adair! How cool! They presented to all of the kindergarten classes and showed us that firefighters are not scary, but are there to help us. We watched as Mr. Scott got dressed in his gear and then we all got to go outside and see their fire truck.

75 kindergarteners packed into our classroom to see our guests!

Mr. Scott put on his coat and his mask.

He needs to turn on the oxygen so he can breathe.

Last step is the helmet and gloves. No skin is showing at all! Wow! He sounded like a robot, but we learned that we should not be afraid. We know that it is only Mr. Scott underneath all those layers.

We learned about all of the buttons and why we heard noises from the suit.

Next step...seeing the fire truck!

Thank you Mr. And Mrs. Scott for an awesome visit!

Math with Mrs. Hicks' class

On Friday we did pumpkin math with Mrs. Hicks' class! We used cubes (non-standard unit of measurement) and tape measures (standard unit of measurement) to measure how tall our pumpkins were and their circumference. It was so fun to watch all 50 kids work so nicely together!

Pumpkin Patch!

We had a blast at Davis Family Farm's pumpkin patch! I cannot believe how lucky we were, because it did not rain a drop on us! It was muddy but not too cold. The kids loved stomping around in the mud. We started out on the hay pyramid, went into the greenhouse for a yummy donut and cider, then went on the hay ride out to pick our pumpkins, and finished up maneuvering our way through the corn maze. Take a look at some of our fun!

The bus ride!

We made it!

The treats were so yummy!

I think David shows how much fun we had! Our bus ride was less than 10 minutes!
