End of Holidays Around the World

Today we made our last trip for Holidays Around the World. We went to Canada to learn about Boxing Day. You will find your child's passport in their backpack today!

We had some pretty excited kids today wanting to show off their finished passports.

Holiday Card Making

We were card making machines today! We learned how to write a card and then wrote cards to our family. These kids were so excited! Some made 2-3 cards! They created a little factory at the carpet with chairs.

Brynne writes to her mom and dad.

We had real greeting cards out for inspiration. Some kids copied these, while some made their own masterpieces.

Artist in Residence

Today we had our third PTA sponsored artist in residence lesson with Mrs. King. We drew one of our wetland birds: the barn owl. We carefully drew it step by step with Mrs. King, then we went over all of our lines with sharpie. We are true artists!

Noah works hard to draw his owl!

Almost done!

Reid and Kampbell trace their lines with sharpie!

Michael remembers all of his sharpie rules and is being super careful.

Look at Brynne as she works hard!

Look at the focus of Audrey and Rylan! It is amazing how quiet it got when the sharpies were passed out!

Thea's finished product!

Stay tuned, because in our next session, we will be adding color to our birds!

Holidays Around the World: Kwanzaa

We learned about Kwanzaa today! Ask your child if they remember what Kwanzaa celebrates.

We made our very own Mkeka by weaving paper together! It was a great fine motor project!

Holidays Around the World Art

We have been traveling the world still. We went to Mexico and learned about their tradition of Las Posadas. We then read, The Legend of the Poinsettia, by Tomie de Paola. We made our own poinsettias today.

Today we traveled to Italy and learned about La Befana. She is a nice old witch that brings gifts to children on January 6th. Does your child remember anything else we learned about her from Mrs. Hicks? We then made a La Befana craft.

Brooks begins to cut out La Befana.

Karen colors very carefully!

Kampbell begins to cut!

Look how careful Brynne is being!
