In math, we have been working with numbers to 10. We ordered our 10 frames today from smallest to biggest and then matched the number to the correct 10 frame!

Today Mrs. Polikoff ready us Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock. What does your child remember about the story? It was a great book!

Let's try and have ALL books returned next week so we can all check out new books.

Literacy Skill: Character Development

Our story of the week is, The Dot. Today we analyzed the main character Vashti. We know that learning about the characters and understanding them helps us comprehend the story even better.

We discussed how Vashti changed from the beginning of the story to the end of the story. We came up with some great answers.

We realized that Vashti thought she was a bad artist at the beginning but thought of herself as a good artist at the end. We knew that she felt determined to make art at the beginning and we noticed that her dots were tiny. At the end, she asked another student to sign his art, just like her teacher did to her at the beginning. Finally, her dots became giant at the end.

Busy Day

Assembly

Kindergarten had a practice assembly to help us prepare for our first all school assembly on Thursday. We practiced sitting in our spot, standing for the pledge, and getting dismissed. Mrs. Krause was so impressed with our behavior that she gave us Sparky the Eagle to have in our room! Sparky is given to classrooms that show amazing behavior, and we were the first class in the whole school to get it!

IPads

We got to use iPads during literacy stations today! We used LetterSchool to help us with handwriting.

Math Game

We learned a new math game today called Spill the Beans. We are practicing our counting, number identification, and numeral formation all with this one fun game!

Brown Day

Our brown song is to the tune of "BINGO." Does your child remember it?

We also read a book about things that are purple. Does your child remember some things that were in the book?

We then practiced reading the word purple and spelling it in our poetry notebook.

Green Day

It was green Friday today! We practiced our green song, read the word green, spelled the word green, and drew picture of things that are green.

Applesauce

Applesauce was a huge hit today! This morning, I showed the class how to spiralize the apple. Then we added some water, a little sugar and cinnamon and let it cook for a few hours in the crock pot. Boy did our room smell amazing all day!

We also sampled a red and green apple and decided which was our favorite. Which did your child pick? Our class made a graph and red apples had 11 kids and green apples had 10 kids. We were almost perfectly split!

We were having so much fun that I forgot to get a picture of the kids enjoying our Apple treats 😞
Orange Day

Happy Orange day!

First Day of Art!

We had our first day of art with Mrs. Haag yesterday!

Artists hard at work!

We drew a tree, clouds, and grass, then we got to paint leaves with a tin foil painter! It was so fun!
