We Love Exercise!

Recess Fun

Today was bitterly cold, but we made the best of it. We bundled up and went out to play.

Asher loves playing basketball.

Darach and Ben enjoy the swings.

Emmanuel chooses to play on the play structure.

Luke and Brooks try to keep warm.

Alana was spinning fast on the mushroom.

Caught another Michael smile.

Reid was blinded by the sun, but I still got a smile!

Go Audrey!

Aarion, Noah, Lydia, and Audrey playing together!

Jog-a-thon

The jog-a-thon was a success! We ran and ran and ran. I am so proud of everyone for how hard they worked in PE. I even brought my running shoes and ran with them!

Here we are at the end. We are holding our slip that tells us how many laps we ran. Ask your child tonight how many they ran!

40th Day of School!

It is our 40th day of school today! We have learned so much! Check out what we did during calendar so show 40.

You have probably heard about our blue dots! They go on our giant ten frames and help us visualize our numbers. Tomorrow I will change these and put up 10 smaller ten frames so we can get to our 100th day of school.

We found the number 40.

Finally we added our newest bundle of 10 to our tens pocket. This is just another way to visualize groups of ten and our number of the day.

Lego Painting: Part 2

We finished our fall art project this morning. Our corn turned out amazingly! Take a look!

The finished product! I love it!

Measuring

Today during math, we got to measure things around the classroom with cubes. We practiced lining up  the cubes and the item we are measuring to get an accurate measure. This was also a great activity to practice counting!

Chloe was measuring the chair and was very smart to lay the cubes down to accurately count.

Kaden was measuring  book and counting how tall it was.

Sofia measures one of her favorite books.

Brynne measures a marker.

Nicholas challenges himself by measuring a big book!

Luke is proud of his measurement of the big book, "The Tiny Seed."

Math

Today we focused on writing our numbers from 5 to 10 and we worked on the vocabulary, "longer, taller, and shorter."

Luke is focused as he writes his 5s.

David is hard at work!

Darach remembers that the first thing to write on his paper is his name!

Brynne and Lydia are quite focused!

Asher is working hard!

Look how hard Morgan is working.

Look at the determination on Kaden's face!

OMSI Assembly: Electrifying Science

We had an amazing assembly this afternoon about electricity! OMSI came to Corvallis to teach us about static electricity and current electricity. We did many expereriments to show how these work. Ask your child about it.

Getting ready for the fun!

We were so excited!

Our presenter blowing up a balloon to show us a form of electricity we have all seen!

Rub a balloon on your hair to create electricity. Ask your child if this is static or current electricity.

Because big balloons are more fun!

Our big balloon created so much static electricity that it picked up little papers!

Next we talked about magnets!

We got to see Mr. Van De Graaff (a static electricity generator).

We added hair to show the electrons trying to escape.

Her hair was flying everywhere! Now we know that this is how the electrons escape.

Last, we looked at current electricity. We modeled how water can generate electricity.

The light shows that we successfully made electricity!

As a finale, our presenter lit up some lights using a special tool.

Thank you to our PTA for funding such a great assembly!

New Daily 5 Choice

You may hear about rainbow writing or gel pens tonight! Today we introduced a new reading choice: rainbow writing. We take our sight word lists and write them with colorful gel pens. It's amazing how much they can write when they get to use something fancy! This helps them read and then be able to spell our sight words.

Audrey picks which pen to use!

Aarion hard at work writing his words.

Wow! Hannah has been a busy bee today!
