Library

Thank you for helping your kindergartener be responsible! We had almost all of our students bring back their library book and they were able to check out a new book.

Mrs. Polikoff read us a book about opossums! It was a great story. Does your child remember it?

Alana is excited for her new book!

Brooks got a Pete the Cat book!

Buddy Class

We had our very first buddy class with Mrs. Baungartner's fourth and fifth graders. Her class researches an art project to do with their kindergarten buddy. They bring all the required materials and do the craft. It is so fun to see all the creativity that the big buddies bring. The bing buddies also showed us one of their fun apps: Art Set. It has every kind of art tool imaginable and the kids can create works of art on their iPad! Ask your child about the app and their project they made!

Brynne and Morgan work with their buddy, Keyvana, on Art Set.

Rylan's buddy shows him the cool things they can do on the app.

Thea and her buddy Matthew (also her brother) work on the app.

Brooks gets to work on making art while his buddies watch.

Thea and Matthew's finished oragami Santas!

Morgan shows off her Santa that Kayvana made for her.

Kampbell's buddy was amazing and helped her make a winter Minion!

Reid and his buddies worked on a Santa face.

Chloe and her buddy made an awesome project!

We look forward to when our buddies will come next time!

Holidays Around the World

We have traveled across the globe many times in our quest to learn more about holidays around the world. We fill out our passport every day to remember where we went and the special traditions of each country.

We learned about India's biggest holiday, Diwali. We also made firework art to show the celebration.

Next we learned about Christmas traditions in Holland.

Today, we learned about Hanukkah. We focused on Israel, but learned that we have many people in America that celebrate it as well. We made a Hanukkah star to honor the holiday.

New Literacy and Math Choices

I wrote a grant this summer to get more reading and math games and activities. It was funded a few weeks ago and we just received all of our new materials! It was so fun to open the big boxes with the kids and to see their eyes light up as they saw all of the fun new things they get to use. Take a look at some of the new games we got!

Noah practices matching beginning sounds.

Thea and Audrey match beginning sounds.

Brynne and Morgan put together our new sight word puzzles.

Emmanuel and Ben work together to make sight words.

Michael is super focused on matching beginning sounds.

Naturalist Lesson

Today we had our next PTA sponsored Naturalist lesson with Mrs. Uebel. We learned about watersheds and streams. We even got to play with a stream table. We got to see what a stream does with small amounts of flowing water, large amounts of water, and we even got to build a dam to see what happened! Ask your child to tell them what happened to their stream!

We got to see a map of the area around our school!

And we filled out our journal.

Happy December!

I cannot believe that it is December 1st! This year is flying by! We started our Holidays Around the World unit today. We were issued our passports so that we can leave the country :) Today we had to fill out the information page in our passport so it does not get lost. Tomorrow we go on our first trip...can your child remember where we are going?

Sofia worked hard to fill in her passport.

Rylan is focused on his passport.

Take a look at a few of the finished products.
