We Are Thankful

Marty

Marty had an exciting weekend with Paige! They went to a wedding and danced together. Then they went to the movie theater together! How lucky?!

We Are Thankful

We have spent a lot of time talking about what we are thankful for. Today we made our placemats for our stone soup. We wrote what we are thankful for and learned how a place setting looks!

Stone Soup!

We read the story, Stone Soup, and then we got to taste our very own soup! It made our classroom smell so yummy.

Look at all these excited faces! We all may not have loved the soup, but we all tried it and we're very respectful of our friends that did like it. Yum!

Mustache Day!

There were mustaches all around today to celebrate filling the eagle egg board! Here is a look at our good looking 'staches!

And a silly one, of course!

Jog-a-thon Success!

We ran our hearts out today during the jog-a-thon! We persevered and kept running or walking even when we got tired!

Each child has a little piece of yellow paper in their backpack about how many laps they ran. They were all so proud of how great they did! I was proud of them too!

Speedy LaToya!

Iain was running so fast the picture couldn't keep up!

What Are We Learning?

This week we are learning three new sight words and two new word families.

Our poem this week is about family. Because it is nearlyThanksgiving, we are really going to focus on family and being thankful.

Marty

Marty had another fun adventure with Mikaela this weekend! He got to go to the park, visit Mikaela's grandma, and play with her sisters!

We Are Scientists!

Today we had our naturalist in residence lesson with teacher Janelle from the Avery House. We learned all about seeds today.

We started with a story about seeds called, Flip, Float, Fly.

Then we all got to look at different kinds of seeds under the microscope! This was so cool!

We finished our lesson with a seed hunt in our school garden.

More And Fewer

In math, we have begun working on figuring out which quantity is more and which is fewer.

We learned a new game to help us learn this concept. Partner 1 had to break apart 10 cubes behind their back. Partner 2 picked a hand and then had to accurately count the cubes and say the appropriate sentence: "___ is more than ___" or "___ is fewer than ___."

Building Hand Strength

We painted watercolor leaves today for a fun Thanksgiving project. We also cut them out. This was difficult with the thick watercolor paper. Our class persevered and kept cutting and are going to have strong hands after that!
