QR Code Subtraction

We have been working on understanding subtraction. We know that with subtraction, we always start with the biggest number and take some away. Today we got to practice subtraction in a fun new way! We scanned QR codes that took us to a subtraction equation. We copied it down and solved it.

Look how hard we worked!

Valentine Bags

Today we decorated our bags for Valentine's Day. It was very fun!

Artist in Residence: Barn Owl

We finished our barn owl drawings with Mrs. King today. Our last session was drawing our owl and lining it with sharpie. This time we were able to add color with watercolor pencils. These were fun art tools to use!

Some of the finished products!

Marty

Last weekend Marty got to visit LaToya and her family. They played video games, went to the pet store to pick a new pet fish, and they went to the park. What a lucky monkey!

Wonderful Wednesday

Marty

Last weekend Marty had fun with Dushawn at the Albany carousel museum. They even brought pencils, stickers, and tattoos for the class!

Milkshake Party

When we had the Burgerville dine out night a few months ago, our class had the highest percentage of students attend! The PTA threw us a milkshake party to celebrate!

Food Adventures

This month's harvest is wheat. We learned about wheat and we learned about the wheat berry.

These are wheat berries.

Then we got to chop the veggies for our wheat berry salad. It was tasty! Did your child like it?

Happy Groundhog Day!

We celebrated Groundhog Day at school today! We watched the clip from the actual Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney, PA. Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow, so spring will come 6 weeks early!

We have read a few groundhog stories to help us understand the event.

Mrs. Polikoff read us Groundhog Day by Gail Gibbons, which is a great nonfiction book to teach us more about it.

Learning A Lot in a Short Week!

We are learning the magic e long a pattern this week. We have also started our yellow primer sight
words as a class.

In math, we have begun subtraction. We are learning how to represent a subtraction problem on our fingers and in a picture. Can your child solve these problems?

Our weekly poem is Groundhogs Day! Can your child sing it to you? It's to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
