Artist In Residence

We had our first art lesson with Mrs. King today! We were inspired by Van Gough's sunflower painting and made our own version!

Great work kindergarten artists!

PE

I am sure you have heard about how fun PE is, so today I wanted to give you a peek into our PE class.

The kids started with a game of "toilet tag." Ask your child to explain the rules to you!

Look at those great freezes!

Then we listened to the directions for the next activity! We are practicing balancing bean bags on different body parts.

And then we got to practice tossing and catching!

Making Connections

Today during reading we were learning about making connections to the books we read. This week we are focusing on Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. A lot of the letters get hurt in the book (like black eyed P and patched up F) and we made a connection to a time that we had gotten hurt. Then we wrote about it! Look at our work!

Natalia wrote about black eyed P and a time she got hurt.

Dushawn was working hard!

Emma wrote about black eyed P and a time she hurt her leg.

Finally, I wanted to share our new name wall! It's so nice having our class all together and this wall will help us learn all our new friend's names!

We Are All Together!

Yesterday was our first day of school with our whole class together!

We began our day by retelling, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. We remembered what happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story and then sorted it into our own spirals.

Then we explored 4 of our reading stations. We practiced writing our name, we matched capital and lower case letters, we played with magnetic letters, and practiced beginning sounds with our letter bean bags.

And at the end of the day, we had play time! The kids discovered our musical instruments and they had a blast making their own music (can you imagine what that sounded like?)!

First Day...Second Half!

We had a great day at school today!

We had a blast making our own Chicka Chicka Boom Boom trees after reading the book! They turned out so great!

Then we explored our math stations.

And the best part of the day...free choice!
