Cinderella
We have been reading the same stories but from different perspectives to help us practice comparing and contrasting. Today we read two versions of Cinderella.
The classic version is told from an invisible narrator perspective but the other version is told by the wicked stepmother. We talked about which version was more reliable and honest. It was a great conversation!
Finally we talked about what the same with these stories and what only happened in the classic or the new version.
In the classic version we got to see the fairy god mother. We didn't see her in the new version!
Both stories have glass slippers.
Both stories have Cinderella losing her shoe on the stairs!
And, of course, both stories have Cinderella!

Goldilocks and The Three Bears
Today we read two versions of Goldilocks and The Three Bears.
After reading the story we talked about what was only in the classic story and then what was only in the Goldilocks Rocks version. Finally we talked about what both stories had in common. This was introducing us to the concept of a Venn Diagram.
After lunch, we filled out our own Venn Diagram pocket chart. Each kid took a sticky note and filled out a piece of the diagram. Look at what we came up with!
In the Goldilocks Rocks version Baby Bear and Goldilocks jump on the bed together.
In the classic version, Goldilocks likes the porridge.
In both versions, there are bears.

Fantastic Friday
A Color Of His Own
We did an art project with the book, A Color of His Own, by Leo Lioni. We created our own chameleon and made it the color of our own!
We all worked very hard deciding how we would paint, what colors to use, and many used cool stamping techniques with their paper towel! These kids are so creative!
Take a look at our complete chameleons!
We Are Adventurous Eaters!
We had our very last Food Adventure of the year with Ms. Clara. We learned a seed song and learned about what seeds need to grow. This went right along with our science unit.
We made a massaged kale salad and I was so surprised that almost every child loved it! A few tried it and thought it was "interesting." We have learned from Ms. Clara to say that a food is interesting instead of saying, "yuck!" because some kids will like it and we don't want to ruin their food adventure.
Our kale salad had a lime and avocado dressing, we added apples, carrots, and sunflower seeds, and topped it with a touch of salt and cumin! It was delicious!

"Spring Into Books" Music Concert
The spring music concert was amazing! Mrs. Beyer never ceases to amaze me in her creativity and bravery in music with our kids! The kids have learned so many musical skills on the instruments and I was so impressed with their performance last night!
The energy was high before heading to the stage!
Here we go!
We have loved, "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" all year and we showed a new, musical side to the book last night!
