Naturalist Lesson

Today we had our PTA sponsored Naturalist lesson. We learned how paper is made and got to make some of our own paper! We learned that paper is made from trees and we can recycle paper to make new paper. Our paper we made was made with recycled paper. Ask your child how the paper pulp felt! Some liked it and others did not like the squishy texture.

Here, we got to see sawdust, which is mixed with water and some chemicals to make the paper we use everyday.

Then we got to see the paper pulp we would be using to make paper!

Nicholas uses a sponge to wick away the moisture from our paper.

Thea tries to dry out her paper.

Now it's Audrey's turn.

Darach pours some pulp onto the screen.

When it was not our turn to make paper, we had other choices! We had leaf stencils...

Tree stamps...

And tree cookies, pine cones, and pine needles to look at.

Jan Brett Week: The Gingerbread Baby

We read another Jan Brett story today, The Gingerbread Baby. The kids loved it! See if your child can remember what happened in the story.

This afternoon, we turned ourselves into gingerbread kids! Check it out!
