Magic 'E'

We started focusing on long vowels today! We learned that a word with short a (like can) can change to a long a by putting a magic e on the end (like cane). 

Teen Numbers

We started looking at what teen numbers mean. I want kids to understand that a teen number is a group of 10 with some extras. Numbers 11-19 are teen numbers. 

We practiced building teen numbers with our egg carton ten frames. Our cubes in the ten frame count as our group of 10 and the ones outside of it are our ones, or extras.
